Jelly Jumpers is one of the newest games from Chillingo, and as you can tell by the look, it is definitely more of a kid game. The game is free to download, and it is a universal app. I was actually surprised with the graphics, they did look better than I expected. The game looks cute and fun, my only problem, is that I do find it extremely repetitive. The backgrounds do change often, and there are different characters you can unlock. Some of the characters have different upgrades you can get as well. To get a character, you do need diamonds, and they are not very easy to find. There are 2 types of “money” you will need in the store. One is just money, and the other one is diamonds. Unfortunately some upgrades and characters in the store will take you a good amount of time to get, so you better be ready for some repetition.
The gameplay is all about jumping, and seeing how far up you can get. All you do is simply tap on the screen, and your jelly character will jump. Sometimes you can also jump on the sides, but you won’t be able to stay there too long cause you will start sliding. You will also find coins in the levels that you can collect, and every once in a while diamonds. You can also buy different themes or backgrounds for the game, but you will probably end up doing it through in app purchase cause it would take a good amount of hours of gameplay to gather the amount of diamonds needed. You will also find at random times a star, if you get it, it will give you a better score for a certain amount of time.
There are only 5 power ups per character that you can get, and keep upgrading. I definitely think those are very few upgrades, and half of them I don’t even know what they really do. Some of them seem pointless to me. The game is a bit entertaining at first, but I almost get the feeling the developers could have taken more time to make this game better. There is definitely room for improvement, more upgrades would be nice, and maybe even enemies during the levels. The game needs more to it, it is almost too simple for me. The game is free, so you can try it out and get your own opinion.
