Chillingo just dropped tiny troopers to only 99 cents. If you love explosions, bombs, and war, then you should definitely get Tiny Troopers while it’s only 99 cents. Check out our review, and decide if this is the game for you.
Graphics:
Tiny Troopers is a universal app, and it looks pretty good in the new iPad. The graphics look clear and crisp. The little guys look cartoony, but that doesn’t mean it will be an easy game. There little guys are pretty brave. The scenarios go from desert to snow, so you will get a variety of backgrounds.
Controls/Gameplay:
The controls seems to work pretty good. The only thing you really do to control your troops is tap the screen. The troops will automatically go to where you tapped last. To shoot an enemy, you simply tap as well. However that will not be enough to kill the enemy. You will always need to tap more than once, and it is a good idea to keep moving so you won’t get hurt as much. In the upper right corner you will see additional weapons you can purchase in the store. If you want to use them, all you have to do is drag the bomb and put it where you want it. You will for sure have to make sure you are not too close to the bombs, or you will die. The game starts out pretty easy, but it does get harder and harder. You can also change the difficulty of the game, they have easy, medium, and hard difficulties available.
The game features 30 missions, and they are all kind of similar. You usually have to kill your enemies and their bases. Sometimes you will need to rescue people as well. During the game you will also find good people or animals, you will not want to kill them cause it hurts your score. The levels at the beginning are pretty short, but as you get farther into the game, they seem to get bigger. Your opponents also get tougher and stronger. Some will drop bombs at you and missiles. Before you start your mission, there will be hints, sometimes the game will tell you what you should purchase in order to beat the level. You don’t necessarily need to buy what the game says, but it is probably a good idea to do it if you are having a harder time beating the levels. One aspect of the game that I didn’t like as much, was that whatever you buy in the store, will only work for the current mission. What’s worse, is that if you die during the mission, you will have to purchase your items again.
The items in the store are pretty expensive, but you do seem to make money at a good pace. Also if you play harder difficulties, the rewards will be even better. I honestly haven’t even tried the hard difficulty, but the other ones do seem to get harder as you get farther into the game. The gameplay is definitely fun, and it does keep you entertained. During the gameplay you can view the map of your current mission. It will show you where you are located, and where your enemy’s bases are.
Story/Premise:
There isn’t much story about the game. As you can tell, you are in a war and fighting for your life. Your troop might be tiny, but they do have what it takes to defeat the opponents. Your mission is to defeat and beat all 30 missions.
Replay Value:
The game has a good amount of content. 30 Missions might not sound like a lot, but keep in mind that some of the missions are longer than others. The difficulty also plays a role in replay value. The harder the difficulty, the longer it will take you to beat the levels. There are also different items in the store to explore, and different characters you can get for your troop, they each have different abilities.
Conclusion:
The game is definitely so worth it for just 99 cents. The normal price for it is $2.99. It is probably a little pricey at $2.99, but it is a well made game that can give you hours and hours of fun. The missions are fun and challenging, like I said the only complain I had was that the items you purchase are only good for the current mission. Other than that is fun, and still a great game for 99 cents.
