E3 Expo 2012 is Upon Us, What to Expect and What We are Hoping for [iOS,Android,E3]

E3

the largest video game expo on the planet is set to launch this week and it is shaping up to be a great show for all video gamers alike.  We here at GamerChica are focused on the mobile side of gaming but that doesn’t mean we do not enjoy console gaming either. In years past iOS and Android would be an afterthought when it comes to E3.  The mobile market has expanded rapidly.  The gaming market as a whole generates 12 billion dollars a year which is ginormous. The mobile gaming market took a bite into that 12 billion with a 2 billion chunk last year. Mobile gaming can not be ignored as it is an upcoming market that is taking over the once powerhouse Gameboy and PSP handheld market.

Here are a list of games that we know will be fully unveiled at E3 this week:

  • Final Fantasy Dimensions [iOS,Android]

The Final Fantasy name brings so much attention as it has be an insanely popular franchise for the last 20 years. Square Enix the developers of this great franchise have unveiled their plans of releasing Final Fantasy Dimensions onto iOS and Android. Joystiq does believe this will be a port of an earlier console game and there is a possibility it could be a redesigned game for mobile devices.

  • WeMade’s “The Project” MMORPG [iOS,Android]

WeMade is set to unveil their next game and it will be an MMORPG that is claiming to put all MMORPGs on mobile devices look silly in comparison.  They have revealed very few details besides the ability to easily and fast link up with your friends and battle it out MMORPG style.  We will keep you up to date as they reveal more details on this game.

  • Madfinger Games, Dead Trigger FPS [iOS,Android]

Who does not love blowing zombies apart?  Madfinger games has unveiled the first details of their upcoming title Dead Trigger in the form of a gameplay video that we posted earlier. This game takes queues from Shadowgun and The Walking Dead.  Let me say the graphics look stunning for a mobile device and we can’t wait to get our hands on this game.  More details will be released this week at E3 so stay tuned!

  • Zen Studios, CastleStorm Defense [iOS,Android]

Zen Studios has already unveiled a teaser for their upcoming game CastleStorm and it looks phenomenal to say the least.  We posted about this game earlier with the teaser video.  Look for more details on this game to be released during E3.

These three games are only scratching the surface of all the games and news that will be unveiled starting tomorrow.  We are hoping to see a lot more cross platform multiplayer games at E3 and some unique indie games that will in no doubt catch our attention.  It will be very interesting how the big wigs in the gaming industry such as Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo plan to attack Android and iOS or  if they decide join them and create a seamless experience such as changing from your mobile device to a your television and visa versa.

The aspect of picking up where you left off is very intriguing to us. iCloud has started this for example when the developers build it into their games you can switch from iPhone to iPad and back without having to replay the level that you just beat. Google is set to release their new Jelly Bean software at Google I/O this next week also. As rumored we might see a gaming center app for Android similar to the iOS version. Lets also hope they build Google Drive functionality into the OS so going from your Android phone and Tablet will be seamless in terms of picking up where you left off.

As much as I hate to say it I think in App Purchases are here to stay as they are very lucrative to developers. I hope that some games will start to give you the option to just pay the “full price” of the game and not fuss with in app purchases at all. One can wish right? A lot of details are ahead of us so sit tight and enjoy the ride that is E3 this week! Also vote in our poll below
